Disney World Raises Theme Park Ticket Prices

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida — Visiting the happiest place on Earth just got a little more expensive.

Disney Parks announced that, beginning Sunday, February 23, 2014, prices for an adult one-day, one-park ticket for EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida were raised from $90 to $94.  Magic Kingdom tickets were also raised from $95 to $99.  A ticket for children ages 3 to 9 will cost $6 less than adults at all parks.

Florida resident ticket prices did not increase, but blockout dates to use the tickets do apply.  A Walt Disney World Florida resident 3-day, 3-park pass is $179 for adults and $167 for children ages 3-9.  A 4-day, 4-park pass costs $20 extra.

Florida Resident passes also increased:

From $464 to $485 Annual
From $584 to $605 Premium Annual
From $309 to $319 Seasonal

Magic Kingdom ticket prices have increased aroundt 35% following the global financial collapse in 2007 when Central Florida tourism and hotel occupancy rates hit lows not seen since 9/11.  The ticket price increase outpaced the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics official Consumer Price Index inflation rate of 12% and the College Board’s tuition inflation calculation of 22% for the same time period.

When the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, general admission was $3.50 – but tickets were also charged separately for rides.

  • Wow! Add taxes, the cost of food and their $14 parking fee, Disney has successfully priced me out of their parks. Just look at the price of a Hotel room. Unbelievable!!!!!
