PALM BAY, Florida —Palm Bay Police Detectives say that they have identified a suspect wanted in connection with a burglary which was captured on a homeowner’s security cameras in late February. The suspect is identified as 29-year-old Ryan Michael Sterk who is now being sought by police for charges involving burglary, credit card theft, and petit theft.
The burglary occurred on February 25th between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. in the 800 Block of Gera Street NW in Palm Bay, Florida. The suspect is seen in the video lurking around the home and then entering through a rear window. The point of entry was next to a bedroom where the victims were sleeping. The suspect spent approximately three minutes inside and stole the contents of a wallet before fleeing out the same window he entered.
While on patrol in the area where the burglary occurred, Officer A. Farmer encountered an individual that looked like the person in the video. At the same time, detectives had already received a tip through CRIMELINE that provided the same name of the person Officer Farmer was with. Further investigation confirmed Sterk was the suspect seen in the video.
“He stole the victim’s credit cards, military identification, passport photos and eighty dollars cash,” said Detective M. Ramos. “This investigation is ongoing and there is a possibility of additional charges.”
Detectives currently have an active arrest warrant for Sterk. Anyone with information on where Sterk is located should contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 in this case. VIDEO: Homeowners’ Surveilance Video
