COCOA, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 6–year-old boy is in serious condition following a crash that occurred on Duncan Avenue at the intersection of Almont Street in Cocoa just before 2 p.m. on Thursday.
49-year-old Robertico Calderon was driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger southbound on Duncan Avenue. Meanwhile, the boy was riding on an electric scooter eastbound on Allmont Street.
According to FHP reports, the boy failed to stop at the stop sign and the front of the Avenger struck the right side of the scooter.
The boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando and remains in serious condition.
