MERRITT ISLAND, Florida — Two people were killed when a Liberty XL-2 single engine plane crashed last night around 8:30 p.m. in the backyard of a home located on Paula Avenue in Merritt Island, Florida.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims as 47-year-old John Brian Kish and 64-year-old Kenneth Allen Marks, both from Merritt Island, who were the occupants of the Liberty XL-2. The crash did not injure anyone on the ground in the Merritt Island neighborhood.
According to BCSO spokesperson Major Tod Goodyear, the plane took off from the Merritt Island Airport yesterday evening for a test flight as Marks was interested in purchasing the plane from Kish.
The cause of the crash is not known at this time and is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. SIMILAR STORIES:
