INDIALANTIC, Florida — Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Agents have arrested an adult and juvenile for their alleged involvement in the murder and attempted murder that occurred in Indialantic, Florida on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators believe that 25-year-old Joseph Howard Milman of Indialantic was the shooter in the incident and charged him with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Robbery with a Firearm. Also charged in connection with the incident is a 17-year-old boy from Indialantic.
The investigation began last Sunday when deputies responded to a 911 call advising that two men had been shot at the residence located in the 300 block of Riviera Boulevard in Indialantic. When deputies arrived. they found a 48-year-old man outside the residence who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. Upon entering the residence, deputies located the body of 51-year-old Scott “Skippy” Hyatt who was also the victim of a gunshot wound.
According to BCSO, the investigation to date has revealed that Milman had previously talked about committing a robbery for prescription medication that Hyatt possessed. On Sunday, Milman allegedly met with the teen at a residence near the crime scene and obtained a firearm from the teen.
Investigators say that Milman then walked to the residence on Riviera where he shot the victims and removed the pills from Hyatt’s pocket. After the robbery, Milman allegedly returned to the nearby residence and returned the firearm to the teen along with a portion of the stolen drugs before changing clothes and leaving the area.
