Merritt Island Woman Dies After Crash

MERRITT ISLAND, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a fatal crash occurred on State Road 3 in North Merritt Island just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

72-year-old Nancy Lincoln of Merritt Island was driving a 1997 Toyota 4-door westbound in the parking lot of the Moose Lodge located in the 3100 block of North Courtney Parkway (State Road 3). Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Cape Canaveral girl was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck northbound on State Road 3.

According to FHP, Lincoln attempted to travel across Courtney Parkway and pulled into the direct path of the Ford. The front of the Ford then struck the left side of the Toyota.

Both Lincoln and the teen were transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital after the crash. Lincoln did not survive the injuries she sustained. The teen suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
