Brevard County Sheriff Jailbreak Race Nov. 8

On November 8, 2014, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will present the Second Annual Jailbreak Adventure Race at the Brevard County Jail Complex, Cocoa.
This unique event gives racers the experience of breaking out of jail and incorporates a 5k of thick muddy terrain and obstacles where Deputy Sheriff’s and bloodhounds chase runners throughout the course trying to catch and return them to jail. The event is a fundraiser for United Way of Brevard, Brevard Children’s Advocacy Center and the Pet Posse, a nonprofit organization which supports animal groups in Brevard County.

This year’s event includes more obstacles and traps along the way for those who are brave enough to try and “breakout.” Sheriff Wayne Ivey will host the event and see runners off at the start of the course. While the event is billed as a race, all skill levels are welcome and encouraged. There is no time limit and no prizes will be given. The goal is to complete the course without being caught.

Run times are scheduled throughout the day. Participants can register with teams or individuals at Escapees must be 12 years of age or older, those 12-17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages the public to come out and support this worthwhile event.
