Man Dies After Being Shot In Cocoa


COCOA, Florida — Just before 12:30 a.m. this morning, Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 500 block of A Lane in unincorporated Cocoa after dispatchers received an emergency 911 call advising that a person had been shot.

Upon arrival, the deputies located a male victim who was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge where he later died as a result of his injuries. The victim was later identified as 32-year-old Jamaal Anderson of Cocoa, Florida.  

According to BCSO spokespoerson Corporal Dave Jacobs, the shooting does not appear to be a random act and agents from the Homicide Unit are in the process of attempting to locate any possible witnesses to the shooting.  Crime Scene Investigators are still processing the scene for evidence.  An autopsy is currently scheduled to take place later today at the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office.
