1 Dead, 3 Critical In Brevard County Crash


INDIALANTIC, Florida – One woman has died and three men remain in critical condition following a crash on State Road A1A near the intersection of Delmar Street in Indialantic, Florida on Thursday.


Just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, 51-year-old Janice Geist of Indialantic, Florida was driving a 1998 Ford northbound on State Road A1A during a severe thunderstorm.  Meanwhile, 21-year-old Brooks Maxwell of Vero Beach, Florida was driving a 2011 Subaru southbound on State Road A1A.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, preliminary information shows that the Ford traveled into the northbound lanes for an unknown reason.  The front of the Ford then struck the right side of the Subaru. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, accord to FHP reports.

19-year-old Anastasia Hirsch, a University of Mississippi student who graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida, died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.

Maxwell, 31-year-old Donal Martin of Maine, and 21-year-old James Pappas of Pennsylvania, remain in critical condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. Geist sustained minor injuries.
