COCOA BEACH, Florida – A 12-year-old female student was struck by a vehicle in the Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School parking lot on Monday just after 3:30 p.m. According to Cocoa Beach Police, the student sustained a broken leg and was flown to an area hospital as a precaution.
Witnesses reported to police that the student was running through the parking lot of the school, located at 1500 Minutemen Causeway, when she ran into the side of a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old student. The school instructs grades 7 through 12.
No charges have been filed at this time. However, police say that the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Cocoa Beach Police Department at 321-868-3251.
