Warren Buchanan German Heredia |
MIMS, Florida – A Florida man has been charged with manslaughter for the death of an elderly man following an argument over of whether or not the senior citizen touched his truck.
Investigators with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office say that 67-year-old German Heredia and his granddaughters were walking their dogs in the area of 2120 Rudge Drive in Mims on Tuesday when an argument started between Heredia and 51–year-old Warren Buchanan over Heredia possibly touching Buchanan’s truck. Heredia then walked up to a fence that Buchanan was standing behind and continued the argument.
During the argument, Buchanan struck Heredia in the face which caused Heredia to fall and strike his head on a concrete driveway. Heredia became unresponsive and law enforcement and medical personnel were summoned to the scene.
Heredia was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where he later died from his injuries. Heredia’s body was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was conducted by the Chief Medical Examiner of Brevard County who concluded that the senior citizen died as a result of blunt force trauma. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit deputies took Buchanan into custody on Thursday night after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest for the manslaughter of Heredia.
Buchanan was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bond.
