Florida Teacher Charged With Sex With A Minor

SEBRING, Florida – A Highlands County Public School teacher is facing nine felony county for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a teenager.

38-year-old Stacy Lynn Hooks, a math teacher at Hill-Gustat Middle School in Sebring, Florida was charged with three counts of transmission of harmful information to a child, one count of traveling to meet a child after using a computer to lure a child, and five counts of lewd and lascivious behavior against a child age 12 to 16, according to Highland County Sheriff’s records.

The state prosecution alleged during her bond hearing that Hooks had sex and oral sex with a minor and traded photographs with a teenager, NBC affiliate WFLA reported. Bond was set at $625,000.

Hill-Gustat Middle School has had several disciplinary problems with staff in recent months. The school resource officer was suspended last month for driving 100 miles per hour in 55 mph zone which resulted in crashing and flipping the patrol car. The school’s principal was place on administrative leave in September for undisclosed reasons, reports Highlands Today.
