Flooding Closes Roads In Palm Bay


8:00 P.M. UPDATE: Inspectors are still out monitoring flooding in Palm Bay. At this time, they are reporting that they are seeing the water recede across many of the impacted roadways. More rain is expected for south Brevard on Friday.


6:45 P.M. UPDATE: The City of Palm Bay is aware that a number of roads in the area have been affected as a result of the the recent heavy rains. Public Works has dispatched Engineer Inspectors to conduct evaluations on all collector roads in the city. The City of Palm Bay’s Operations team is in constant contact with the inspectors in order to make any emergency repairs if needed and coordinating the temporary closure of any roads.

PALM BAY, Florida – Flooding from recent rains has caused the Palm Bay Police Department to close Americana Boulevard from Conover Street to Dinner Steet NE  and is impassable. According to the City of Palm Bay, rain gauges showed up to 6″ of rain falling in some areas of the city.


In addition to the above road closure, Brevard Emergency Management is reporting that multiple road in Palm Bay are flooded and vehicles have become disabled.



According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, torrential rains have been occuring in southern Brevard County on Thursday. NWS radar estimates that up to 3 inches of rain occurred just northeast of Palm Bay, Florida in only one hour.

The Melbourne International Airport set a daily rainfall record with 2.85″ through 3:30 p.m.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for Southern Brevard County until 5:45 p.m.
