Flooding Closes Roads In West Melbourne


WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – Flooding from recent rains has caused the West Melbourne Police Department to close roads in the Woodhaven Manor subdivision in West Melbourne, Florida. More rain is expected for south Brevard on Friday.

Police say that the  area of Haven Drive and Margo Court is not passable in a vehicle. “LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY” barricades have been put in place to warn traffic.


Earlier today, Brevard County Fire Rescue crews had to go into a flooded area to assist a motorist who ran off the road in Pine Lake Estates that is also located in West Melbourne.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, torrential rains occurred in southern Brevard County on Thursday. NWS radar estimates that up to 3 inches of rain occurred just northeast of Palm Bay, Florida in only one hour. The Melbourne International Airport set a daily rainfall record with 2.85″ through 3:30 p.m.
