Snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice accumulations are expected to reach as far south as northern Florida on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
This powerful nor’easter is also expected to bring snow, ice, rain, very strong winds, and rough surf to coastal locations of the Southeast U.S., Middle Atlantic, Northeast, and into New England Wednesday into Thursday.
Because residents in the Sunshine State are not accustomed to dealing with freezing weather conditions, the National Weather Service and Florida Governor Rick Scott are urging Floridians to be prepared.
“In Florida, you should always be prepared for potential severe weather, regardless of the time of year,” said Governor Scott. “As this weather system moves through state, families and visitors across North Florida should prepare for potential hard freezes and below-freezing travel conditions.”
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather Advisories for most of northern Florida.
