Trump, Florida Governor Slam FBI Over Parkland School Shooting

U.S. President Donald Trump ridiculed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s failure to act on tips the agency received about Nikolas Cruz leading up to the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
On Friday, the FBI revealed that it received a call on January 5, 2018, from a person close to Nikolas Cruz who warned of Cruz’s “gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.”
However, the FBI failed to forward the tip to its Miami Field Office for investigation.
“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable,” President Trump tweeted on Saturday.
“They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”

Florida Governor Rick Scott was even more scornful of the FBI than Trump, and called for the resignation of FBI Director Christopher Wray.
“Seventeen innocent people are dead and acknowledging a mistake isn’t going to cut it,” said Governor Scott.
“An apology will never bring these 17 Floridians back to life or comfort the families who are in pain. The families will spend a lifetime wondering how this could happen, and an apology will never give them the answers they desperately need.”
