TITUSVILLE, Florida – A Florida woman is in jail after she allegedly drove into oncoming traffic repeatedly, crashed into a tree, jumped into the Indian River Lagoon, and took off all of her clothes on Wednesday afternoon in Titusville, Florida.
According to sheriff’s deputies, 23-year-old Kelly Daehlin Renee was driving a black Toyota Prius southbound at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 1 and attempted to pass vehicles by driving into oncoming traffic just before 1:30 p.m.
Deputies then activated their lights and siren but Renee continued to travel southbound and ran a red light and almost hit other cars in the intersection.
The car chase came to an end when the Prius struck a tree at the Community Credit Union located at 3125 South Washington Avenue (U.S. Highway 1).
Renee then exited the vehicle and fled on foot from deputies.
She then jumped into the nearby Indian River Lagoon, took off all of her clothes, and swam away from the deputies.
A Brevard County Sheriff Office boat and a Florida Fish and Wildlife boat were both dispatched to apprehend Renee.
Once Renee was pulled from the water and aboard a patrol boat, she kicked the officers and attempted to head butt one of them.
Renee was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, resisting arrest with violence, and resisting arrest without violence.
The Florida woman was booked into the Brevard County Jail where her bond was set at $16,000.
