Florida Man Says He Steals Pool Floats For Sex Instead Of Raping Women

PALM BAY, Florida – A Florida man suspected of multiple pool float thefts told police that he has sex with the inflatables instead of raping women.

In the past 7 months, the City of Palm Bay has been plagued with burglaries in which a suspect cuts the screen or otherwise enters a victim’s back pool deck area and steals only pool floats.

Several victims told police that they had been burglarized several times by this person but only reported them on the second or third burglary of their floats.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019, Palm Bay police stopped 35-year-old Christopher William Monnin on his bicycle for being a suspicious person.

Monnin had with him a white garbage bag full of what he identified to police as deflated pool floats.

The Florida man admitted to police that he has burglarized several houses to steal pool floats and then led police to a vacant house where a had a stash of about 75 pool floats.

Monnin explained to police that he sexually gratifies himself with the floats and does this instead of raping women.

He was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and petit theft
