Florida Man Arrested For Punching Little League Umpire

LAKELAND, Florida – A Florida man was arrested for allegedly punching a little league umpire in the face in Lakeland, Florida.

On Friday evening, November 15, 2019, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Highland City Ball Park located at  3930 Ball Park Road in Lakeland, Florida.

According to the deputies, 22-year-old Alberto Escartin Ramos disagreed with a call an umpire made. So after the game, he went to the clubhouse to complain to the head umpire.

Ramos then allegedly began screaming at the head umpire, and the head umpire asked Ramos to leave the ballpark.

The Florida man then responded by screaming he would “kick his ass,” and punched the head umpire in the face.

The head umpire suffered a cut lip and broken tooth as a result of the punch.

Deputies arrested Ramos and charged him with one count felony battery of a sports official.

Ramos bonded out of the Polk County Jail after posting a $1,000 bond.

“This is completely inexcusable – assaulting a little league official while he’s officiating at a game where children are supposed to be having fun, and learning sportsmanlike behavior,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

“Not only was he arrested, he’s also been trespassed from the ballpark.”
