Windemere Man Killed In Lake County Crash

LAKE COUNTY, Florida – A Windemere man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a vehicle crash that occurred near the intersection of County Road 561 and Bruce Hunt Road in Lake County, Florida around 9:22 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2019.

74-year-old Kenneth Costa of Minneola, Florida was driving a 2006 Gulf Stream Coach RV northbound on County Road 561.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man from Windermere, Florida was riding a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on County Road 561.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Costa attempted to make a left turn to travel west on Bruce Hunt Road and turned into the direct path of the motorcycle.

The front of the Yamaha then struck the right side of the Gulf Stream Coach RV.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported to the Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office. His identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.

The motorcyclist was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor, according to FHP reports.

The crash remains under investigation.
