Indiana Woman Killed In Orlando, Florida Crash

ORLANDO, Florida – An Indiana woman did not survive the injuries she sustained in a crash that occurred in Orlando’s tourist district just south of Universal Studios on Friday, January 11, 2020.

Around 11:30 p.m., 19-year-old Rosalinda Melendez of Orlando, Florida was driving an Acura TSX southbound on Turkey Lake Road.

Meanwhile, 77-year-old Carol Wilson of Brownsburg, Indiana was a pedestrian attempting to cross Turkey Lake Road from east to west near Majorca Place.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Wilson was not inside a crosswalk or at an intersection when she attempted to make the crossing.

Wilson walked into the direct path of the Acura and was struck by the front of the vehicle.

Melendez was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to FHP reports.

Wilson was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.
