ENGLEWOOD, Florida – A Florida man took advantage of the now commonplace wearing of face masks in public as a disguise in plain sight to rob a Publix supermarket in Englewood, Florida.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida man brandished a weapon and demanded money from a store clerk just before 6 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020, at the Publix located at 1500 Placida Road.
The suspect then walked out of Publix in an unknown direction.
Investigators say that the suspect is thought to be in his mid 50’s, wearing a ball cap, black sunglasses, a white makeshift face mask, grey sleeveless shirt with “Livin The Life” beach scene on the back, dark grey shorts just above the knees, a yellow in color wristwatch on the left wrist and dark-colored ankle-high slip-on shoes with possibly an Asian or Latino accent.
No one was injured during the robbery.
