Thunderstorms Forecast For 4th of July Weekend 2020 In Cocoa Beach, Florida

COCOA BEACH, Florida – Although the City of Cocoa Beach decided to keep beaches open for the Independence Day holiday, showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout the 4th of July weekend in Cocoa Beach, Florida, according to the National Weather Service.

Going to the beach during thunderstorms in Florida is one of the leading causes of lightning deaths, according to NOAA.

Friday, July 3 (Independence Day Observed) A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. West southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.

Friday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 76. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph after midnight.

Independence Day, July 4 Showers and thunderstorms likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 78. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday, July 5 Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%.
