Presidents Day is another term used for the holiday celebrating George Washington’s birthday that is observed on the third Monday in February.
In 2023, Presidents Day falls on Monday, February 20.
Below is a list of banks that are closed on Presidents Day, Monday, February 20, 2023.
Most banks will be closed on Presidents Day 2023 because it is a federal holiday and the Federal Reserve Bank is closed on Washington’s Birthday.
But it is always best that you call ahead to the local bank branch near you to be sure that they are closed or open on Presidents Day 2023.
Also, because Washington’s Birthday is a federal holiday, this can delay when bank deposits are credited to your account, depending on your bank’s holiday deposit schedule.
This includes deposits made by customers, payroll deposits, and other direct deposits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) deposits that will be made on Presidents Day, Monday, February 20, 2023, but may not be credited to some bank accounts until February 21, 2023, or later.
Because Presidents Day is both a federal holiday and a bank holiday, that means that IRS tax refunds will not be deposited or credited into your bank account on Presidents Day 2023.
Many IRS filers who are expecting a tax refund around Presidents Day will see a message on the IRS Where’s My Refund website page stating, “we have received your tax return and it is being processed” with no bars.
Most banks will be closed on Presidents Day, Monday, January 20, 2023, including Ally Bank, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase Bank, CitiBank, Fifth Third Bank, HSBC, Huntington National Bank, PNC Bank, Regions Banks, SunTrust Bank, TD Bank, and Wells Fargo.
